Philippe Benichou is a French-American artist. He comes from a family of artists and actors. He studied painting and art history with his mother, artist Arlette Oger. He formely attended the Sorbonne University Paris III, New York University and UCLA School of Psychology. Philippe also studied and was greatly encouraged by well known art educator, artist and sculptor, Francis Coelho, in San Francisco, CA. In addition to being a painter, Philippe, also known as Eric Stone, has worked extensively on the New York stage, soap operas, TV series and animation, in the United States. He’s the original founder of the Hollywood Actors Studio and Speakers & Artists International where he teaches, conducts seminars, and lectures since 1989. He continues to study art as it relates to personal growth and development.

Philippe Benichou has conducted seminars, lectured and taught extensively on the subject of creativity, empowerment and self-expression since 1987. He has been a frequent solo and group speaker at many public and private institutions and theaters around the country and abroad. In addition to lectures and presentations, Philippe has taught regularly since 1983. Freeing the artist within has been his ongoing challenge and committed course of action, helping many people reach a healthier level of awareness, creativity and self knowledge. He believes the destination in art and life is perfect harmony and the purpose freedom from old conditioning and fear based oppressive contexts. He is the original founder of the Hollywood Actors Studio. Eric Stone is Philippe Benichou’s stage name in Hollywood.

To me, medium and technique are subordinate to idea. Art is only a means of transport, so the ideas can be seen in a new language, regardless of the medium. It thus becomes the differentiated language of the unique expression of the artist.
When I am no longer preoccupied with mundane thriving and surviving, I am free to express my true potential.
